Henry Rayvon “Ray” Cox, 85, of High Point, passed away Monday, October 13, 2025, at the Hospice Home of Davidson County.
Ray was born February 4, 1940, in High Point to the late Henry Dolph Cox and the late Mary Elizabeth Sizemore Cox.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Franklin Cox and his great grandson, David James Sechler.
Ray served our country in the United States Navy; he passed away on the 250th Birthday of the Navy. He was a man of few words, but a great Godly man, serving as a Deacon, Trustee, Teller, Usher, and member of the church he loved, Trinity Baptist Church. He loved gospel music.
As an avid car enthusiast, he restored old cars, street-rods and loved to drive fast. He loved being at his lake house at Badin Lake, boating and skiing. Ray was always willing to lend a helping hand, a “Mr. Fixit” to most anything, was the king of alternative engineering and was a hard worker and provider for his family. He was a highly regarded businessman, he owned and operated 2 businesses, Cox Brothers and Kivett Drive Motor Company and was a former member of the Junior Order of United American Mechanics.
A role model to many people throughout his life, he was a great friend. His greatest joy was his family, especially his three grandchildren. He was a loving father to his daughters and loving husband to Connie.
Left to cherish his memory; his beloved wife, Connie Gardner Cox, of the home; daughters, Beth Cox of High Point; Robin Myers and husband Jon of Winston Salem, and Angie Cox of Thomasville; and his grandchildren, Chanse Myers and fiancé Sydney Smith; Elise Sechler and husband Worth, and Dillon Myers.
The pallbearers will be Chanse Myers, Dillon Myers, Worth Sechler, Sean Cox, Gary Smith and Mark Gardner. Honorary bearers will be Rick Gardner and Donnie Shipwash.
Funeral Service will be 11:00AM Friday, October 17, 2025, in the Wright Funerals-Cremations, High Point chapel with Reverend Morris Little officiating.
Burial will follow in the Floral Garden Memorial Park cemetery.
The family will receive friends 10:00-10:45AM Friday prior to the service.
