Henry Robert "Pop" Peele, Jr., 94, of High Point, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the High Point Medical Center.
Born July 8, 1930, in Richmond County, NC; he was the son of the late Henry Robert Peele, Sr., and to the late Mattie Smith Peele.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph Peele, and William Peele and his sisters, Blanche Hubbard, and Doris Love.
Pop was the owner and operator of Your Store Furniture in High Point for 30 years, and was employed by the Industries of the Blind, Greensboro, for 21 years, winning the Outstanding Award of Employee of the Year. He was an avid sports fan and pulled for the UNC Tar Heels; he also loved to bowl. Additionally, he was a member of Level Cross United Methodist Church.
He was a sponsor and coach of Women's Softball, Volleyball, and Basketball, Co-ed Softball, and co-ed Volleyball teams for 20 years in High Point and Thomasville. The Women's Volleyball Team won Class B State Championship USVBA in 1984.
Left to cherish his memory; his wife Mary Fields Peele, of the home; son, Henry Robert Peele III and wife Laura, of Lexington; grandchildren, Jessica Haines (Rob), Jeremy Peele (Vanessa), Kristen Yarbrough (Paul), and Timothy Peele; great grandchildren, Kimberly, Zachary, Sierra, Skylar, Hudson, Noah, Izzy, Allie, John Luke, Ella, Emmie and Adalyn; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service will be 2:00PM Friday, February 28, 2025, in the Wright Funerals-Cremations, High Point Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Joe Collins officiating.
The family will receive friends 1:00-1:45PM, prior to the service.
Burial will follow in the Ebenezer Memorial Chapel Cemetery.
