Gloria Jean (Gill) Locklear

Gloria Jean Gill Locklear, 75, of Archdale, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2021, at High Point Medical Center.

Born in Baltimore Maryland on November 5, 1945, she made her home in High Point, NC after moving here with her husband in the 1960’s.

She was known for her kind and loving spirit and heart of gold. She never met a stranger and would give anyone that she thought needed it, the shirt off her back while showering you with gifts and conversations at the same time. She touched the heart of everyone she met. When you greeted and said your farewells her long hugs and even longer goodbyes made sure you knew how much you were loved.

She was a member of God's Little Chapel church for many years. She loved the Lord and her grandchildren more than anything else in her life and if grandmothers had a trademark face, hers would be it because to all those who loved her, she was the best grandma ever, a social butterfly, a blessing to us in the flesh!

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Ray Locklear and two of her grandsons, Tommy Joe Locklear and Steven Criss Locklear.

She is survived by her two sons, Bobby Joe Locklear and wife Jennifer, and Steven Junior Locklear; former daughters-in-law Julie Cecil and Erica Collins; and, as Gloria called them, her daughters by heart, Sandra Stanley and Trena Howell, who comforted Gloria in her final moments.  She left behind 9 grandchildren, Jamie Locklear, David Lee Thompson, Megan Ward, Chyan Wolfe, Kaylyn Locklear, Natalie Locklear, Joe Carter, Alora Carter, Ciera Carter, and April Calhoun. She also had 9 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 20, 2021, in the chapel of Wright Funerals-Cremations. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Park.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM prior to the service.
