George Browne Johnston, Jr., 79, of Charlotte, passed away Monday, May 18, 2026, in the Hospice Home of High Point.
Born May 16, 1947, in Augusta, GA., he was a son of the late Dr. George Browne Johnston and the late Hazel Bryant Johnston. He graduated from Asheboro High School in 1965, then from NC State and UNC Charlotte with a degree in architect. George started his career at Harris, Tribble, and Lee, then became the in-house architect for the building of Nations Bank now Bank of America in Charlotte. He retired from Lincoln Harriss in Charlotte as Senior Project Manager.
He is survived by his sisters, Amy Ingram and husband Hal, and Sara Johnston; nephew, Hal Ingram III and wife Kelly; and great nephews, I.V. Ingram and Johnston Ingram.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Rogers Johnston.
No formal services are scheduled at this time.
George died peacefully at Hospice Home of High Point after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma.
Memorials may be directed to a charity of choice.
