Gary Stanley Smith

Gary “Smitty” Stanley Smith, 79, of High Point, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2024, at his home.

Born December 10, 1944, in Buncombe County, NC, he was the son of the late Harry Calvin Smith and the late Rachelle Moore Smith.  Smitty was a graduate of Erwin High School in Leicestier, North Carolina and was a retired truck driver for Hoyle Office Supply. He was an avid camper who loved to drive and travel while listening to his favorite country music wearing his Chevrolet hat.  He also loved old westerns with John Wayne or looking at Garfield Comic Strips.  He attended Lake Hills Baptist Church, formally known as New Morgan Hill Baptist Church of Candler, North Carolina.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Brown Smith of the home; daughter, Heather Lunsford (Ben) of High Point; grandchildren, Caleb Lunsford of Greenville, NC. and Jordan Lunsford of High Point.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Gate City Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Owens officiating.

The family will visit with friends following the service.
