Listen to Obituary

Elizabeth Kay Willis (nee: Goodall) passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025 at Hospice Home of the Piedmont.

Kay was born on April 10, 1941 in Flint, Michigan to Esther and Vivian Goodall. She grew up in Lapeer, MI and later St. Petersburg, FL where she met and married the love of her life, David. She attended St. Petersburg community college and Scarritt College. David’s career led to many moves; Kay raised their family in New Jersey, Oklahoma, St Louis, San Antonio and Dallas. Later she and David moved to Phoenix and Hartford before retiring to High Point in 2007. Everywhere they lived David and Kay joined a church and made many close friends.

Kay was known for her love of children, animals and gardening. She was blessed with a creative spirit and enjoyed painting, sewing and various crafts. She was one of the most agreeable people you could hope to meet and had a wonderful sense of humor. She especially delighted in spending time with her grandchildren. While living in High Point Kay served as a deacon in her church and supported her community through various service projects, sang in the church choir and enjoyed her garden.

Kay is survived her daughters, Leanne Willis of High Point and Danielle Josler of Westlake, OH; her son-in-law James Caress; and grandchildren Andy and Elizabeth Caress and Colin and Laura Josler. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brother, William Goodall.

A celebration of life will be 3:00PM Sunday, September 7, 2025, in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church of High Point with the Reverend Dr. Erin Bowers officiating. The family will host a reception for friends in the Family Life Center following the service.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Presbyterian Women of First Presbyterian Church who never forsook Kay during her declining health; and to the staff of River Landing and Hospice for their loving care.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church of High Point or your local ASPCA.

Wright Funerals-Cremations, High Point, is in charge of the arrangements.
