Edward W. Chaney, Sr., 93, of Archdale, North Carolina, passed away on September 8, 2021 at the NC State Veteran’s Home in Salisbury, North Carolina.
Edward was born in Winston-Salem to Grover R. and Viola H. Chaney on July 21, 1928. Edward was a veteran of World War II and served in the Army’s 101st Airborne as a Corporal and was awarded the Victory Medal. After his time in the service, Edward worked in the Heating and Air industry as well as doing sheet metal work. Edward was a Christian and was active in his church. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed sharing his military stories with them. He was a sports fan, loved race cars and enjoyed fishing.
Edward is preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Hunt Chaney; daughters, Marilee Henderson, June Chapman, and Ann Chaney; parents Grover and Viola Mae Chaney; brothers, Bobby Chaney, Grover Chaney and Howard Chaney; sisters, Emma Davis and Annie Mae Davis; and grandson, Mark.
Edward is survived by son Edward Chaney, Jr and wife Judy; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside committal with military honors will take place Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at 9:00AM at the Salisbury National Cemetery. The family will receive visitors, Monday, September 13, 2021 from 6:00PM – 7:30PM at Archdale Assembly of God, 4405 Archdale Road, Archdale, North Carolina.
