Douglas Arthur Meurs

Douglas (Doug) Arthur Meurs, 72, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 27, 2026, in High Point, North Carolina.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marge Meurs. He is survived by the love of his life, Dreama Reece Ujevich; his brother, Gregory J. Meurs (Ann); his sister, Marcy M. True; his stepdaughters, Miranda P. Ashley and Emily G. Ujevich; his three nieces, Kathy Sheehan (Vinnie), Karol Capps (Tim), and Karyn Barefoot (Chad); and his nephew, Jonathan Y. Meurs.

Doug was born on June 18, 1954, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. At a young age, his family relocated to High Point, North Carolina, where he was raised and later attended Davidson Community College. He built a successful career as a sales representative in environmental services in Reidsville, specializing in the safe handling and disposal of hazardous waste. Through his dedication, professionalism, and strong work ethic, he earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike.

Doug had a lifelong passion for golf and bowling, and he excelled at both. As an accomplished bowler, he achieved the rare feat of bowling 16 perfect 300 games in tournaments and leagues held in Las Vegas, Reno, Cincinnati, and many other cities across the United States. He competed in several bowling leagues throughout the Triad and surrounding areas, including one with his father and brother, where he earned the respect and friendship of countless fellow bowlers. On the golf course, Doug was a talented and avid golfer who celebrated many hole-in-ones throughout the years. For two decades, he was a proud member of the Triad Legends golfing group, where he enjoyed the camaraderie, competition, and countless memories shared with friends who became like family.

Above all, Doug loved his family deeply and made sure they were cared for. He was someone they could depend on, always ready to help, offer advice, or lend a hand whenever it was needed. His Christian faith became an even more important part of his life in his later years, and it was evident in the way he treated the people around him. Doug will be remembered for his kind heart, his willingness to help others, and the love he shared with family and friends.

Doug will be deeply missed, but we are grateful for the assurance that we will see him again.
