Dorothy was born in Brogdon Township (Goldsboro, NC) September 17, 1934, to Benjamin James O’ Berry and Julia Edwards O’ Berry. On April 3, 1952 Dorothy married Stephen Jonah Davis.

Dorothy and Jonah had four children; Julia Davis Wilson and husband William Kenneth Wilson, Ⅱ, Peggy Davis Neese, Stephen Monroe Davis (B.J.) (deceased), Christine Renee Davis. Dorothy had seven grandchildren Elizabeth Ann Norwood (Lace Norwood), William Kenneth Wilson Ⅲ, James Alexander Neese, Jacquline Nicol Stevens, Victor Jonah Neese, Johnathan Dow Hinshaw (Ashley Hinshaw), Amber Nicole Davis. Three great grandchildren Skyling Gray Hinshaw, John Kaie Lancto, Jonah Brian Hinshaw. Dorothy had one brother Ray Finch (Diana).

Dorothy was a member of Welch Memorial United Methodist Church for 73 years, joining at the age of 15, where she was a faithful member of the church choir. Dorothy was a Girl Scout Leader, Sunday School Teacher, chaperone for the Speed Skating Club of High Point, and she drove many members to meets for the speed skating team. Dorothy was an avid photographer, winning second place in an amateur photographer contest. Dorothy was a volunteer chaplain at High Point Hospital, a neighborhood mama to all of the kids, loved working with the childrens choir at Welch UMC, she worked as a caterer with Nancy Wall and Helen Pendry. Dorothy was very devoted to the TOPS club at Welch UMC. Dorothy was awarded the Laity Service Award in 2000 for Welch UMC. Dorothy was on the Worship Committee, and the Welcoming Committee. Dorothy also volunteered at Mt. Shepard Camp, cooking three meals a day with the other ladies, for all of the children. Dorothy also went around the neighborhood collecting money so that some of the neighborhood children could go to camp. Dorothy started a petition so playground equipment could be put in an empty field for the kids so they would have something to do. Not only did equipment such as swings, slides, and monkey bars get put in the park, a full basketball court was added to what is now called Pershing Street Park. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Jonah Oct. 24, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her only son Stephen (Steve) Monroe Davis Aug. 17, 2005.
