Doris Mae Loggins

Doris Mae Bodenheimer Loggins, 94, of High Point, passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday, July 19, 2026, at her home.

Born the 7th child of eleven on April 17, 1932, in Davidson County in the Georgetown Community of Abbotts Creek, she was a daughter of the late Franklin Lewis Bodenheimer and the late Lula Mae Craven Bodenheimer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years in March 2013, Billy Joe Loggins; a son, Todd Loggins, a great granddaughter, Madelyn Loggins, brothers, Donald Bodenheimer, Oren Bodenheimer, Roger Bodenheimer, Verlin Bodenheimer, Jack Bodenheimer and Wayne Bodenheimer; sisters, Beatrice Koltash and Ruth Tesh.

She was born into humble beginnings but had a strong work ethic and a desire to always learn something new. She attended Wallburg High School where she lettered in basketball and made lifelong friends. She left school at sixteen to marry her groom, and they soon began their family. With each passing year, the family grew until they had seven children over a span of twenty years. In case you are wondering that is a lot of diaper changes, bedtime stories, ballgames, practices, PTA meetings, cub scouts, girl scouts and vacation bible schools. When her youngest child began school, so did she. She went to complete her high school diploma and registered for nursing school. After graduation from Davidson County Community College Nursing Program in 1975 she was employed by High Point Memorial Hospital where she worked in a variety of positions including head nurse and retired from the utilization review department. She excelled in her career because of her desire to always learn more and improve where it was possible. We still hear stories of the care our mother provided for her patients. She was a lifelong member of Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church and served as their chief chicken pie maker! Chances are if you had a baby while attending Abbotts Creek, you received a handmade baby blanket stitched with love and prayers for your new addition. She and Billy Joe were avid supporters of the Labor of Love and the Backpack ministry because they felt no child should know hunger. She was a family historian for the Bodenheimer, Craven, Loggins and Wade families. She authored a book about the Loggins Family Tree because she wanted her children and grandchildren to know where they came from and gave bibles as gifts so they would know where they were going.

Left to cherish her memory; sons, Danny Loggins and wife Barbara, Joe Don Loggins and wife Debbie, and Shane Loggins and wife Elizabeth; daughters, Drema Loggins Kindred; Janet Loggins Moseley and husband Skip, and Wendy Loggins (Neil); grandchildren, Shannon (Jonathan), Shawn (Kara), Carey (Jamie), Randi (Jordan), Erica, April (Richard), Logan, Madison (Nate), Sarah (Joe), Hannah, Isabel, Max and Sadie; great grandchildren, Dana, Chandler, Calyn, Raylen, Rodney Todd, Reese, Grayson, Austin, Kendall, Kamari, Carsyn, Easton, Hudson, and Harper; sisters, Faye B Efird, and Gerry B Alcon; and a host of nieces and nephews and extended family.

Funeral Service will be 11:00AM Friday, July 24, 2026, at Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church; 2817 Abbotts Creek Church Rd, High Point, NC 27265; with Rev. Dr. Steve Livengood officiating.

The burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends 5:00-6:30PM Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Wright Funerals-Cremations, High Point Chapel; 1720, Westchester Drive, High Point, NC.
