Donald (Don) Eugene Rogers, 87, of High Point, passed away Friday, April 17, 2020, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
Don was born on July 14, 1932, in Guilford County, to the late Wayne Robert Rogers and the late Elizabeth Ferree Rogers.
Don was a graduate of High Point High School (Central) and state wrestling champion. He served his country in the US Navy as an aircraft electrician during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Bryce Commercial College. He retired from Western Electric and Gulton Femco as a Production Supervisor. Additionally Don was a Licensed Real Estate Agent.
Don was a faithful and loyal member of Christ United Methodist Church for over 50 years. He was an avid golfer with a passion for all types of music and dancing, but most especially loved his family. His devotion to the grandchildren was beyond compare. He loved passing on his life stories to his family.
Don was the dedicated husband to Kay Bowman Rogers for more than 65 years.
In addition to his wife, He is survived by his son, Robert “Robby” Rogers and wife Melanie of Atlanta; daughter, Donna Rogers Royals of Kernersville; sister, Ruth Walker and husband Frank of Greensboro; grandchildren, Shannon Preston and husband Jeff, Kaylin Royals, and Alex Royals; great-grandchildren, Grace and Grant Preston.
He was one of the most intelligent and talented individuals that his family and friends had the honor to know. He will be forever loved and missed.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN, 38105 or Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr., High Point, NC 27262.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a future date to honor Don’s life and beloved memories.
