Dennis Stewart Eaton

Dennis Stewart Eaton, 81, of High Point, NC, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Graybrier Nursing and Retirement Center in Trinity, NC.

Dennis was born on November 24, 1944, in Denver, Colorado to the late Lester Stewart and Pearl Fisher Eaton.

Dennis grew up in New York and graduated from Caledonia-Mumford Central High School and later form State University of New York, Buffalo. He retired from the City of High Point, Parks and Recreation, focusing most of his career at the Roy B Culler Senior Center. During his career there, he founded and directed two senior chorus groups; Happy Tones and Senior Class. Dennis himself sang in the Triad Harmony Express of Winston Salem and the Greensboro Tar Heels Chorus. As an employee of the Parks and Recreation sector of High Point, Dennis refereed and organized many youth sports and sporting events for High Point. Outside of work Dennis loved traveling and fly fishing, especially fly fishing for trout in New York.

Along with his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his sister, Barbra Cottone.

Left to cherish the memory of Dennis are his wife, Anne Hughes Ray Eaton; sons, Jeff Eaton and significant other, Crystal, Jay Eaton and wife, Sandy; stepson, Sean Ray and wife Diana; stepdaughter, Genevieve “Ginnie” Hansler; grandchildren, Carson Eaton and wife Faith, Connor Eaton, Kyle Eaton, Rachel Eaton, Penelope Ray and Caroline Ray; brothers, Bryan Eaton, Richard Eaton and David Eaton.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00pm September 11, 2026, at the Wright Funeral Home Chapel, High Point. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:30pm until 3:00pm on September 11, 2026, prior to the service. Burial will occur at a later date in Ontario, New York.

Memorial donations may made to charities of the donor's choice.
