David Lugene Lackey

David Lugene Lackey, of Trinity passed away Sunday, September 13, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born June 9, 1952, in High Point. He was the son of the late,Hueston Gilbert Lackey and the late, Nancy Kearns Lackey Hill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Roger Dale Lackey and sister, Susan Rebecca Lackey Gray.

David was a kind and gentle man. His love was like no other, and everyone knew that. Over the years he taught many how to hunt, to build, to fish, to ride horses, and how to love others unconditionally.

David fought a courageous battle with cancer and persevered through multiple surgeries and treatments. His determination to keep living his life was steadfast until the end. His family kept him encouraged, while his saying was simply “God‘s got this”. David attended Triad Cowboy Church.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife, Kimberly Barnes Lackey; 3 beautiful daughters, Lori Lackey Parker and husband Dalin, Crystal Lackey Jenkins and husband Chuck, and Lindsey Lackey; 5 grandchildren; Caitlin Dillon, Cody Parker, Conner Jenkins, Alex Morgan, Brooklyn Morgan; 3 great grandchildren, Brynlee Dillon, Paisleigh Parker, Kennedi Parker; also his loving sisters, Kay Winfrey, and Fay Trotter.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Triad Cowboy Church on Muddy Creek Road in High Point with Pastor Doug Davis officiating. 

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 PM on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at Wright Funeral Service in High Point.
