Cecil Harold “Danny” Griffin, Jr

As his hummingbirds migrated south for the winter, Cecil Harold “Danny” Griffin Jr migrated to Heaven Friday, October 19, 2018, from the Hospice Home at High Point.   His long battle with cancer was over.

Danny was born October 28, 1945, in Lenoir County.  His father, Cecil Harold Griffin Sr and his mother Eleanor Mobley preceded his death.

Danny “Fly” loved his work and achieved Captain Status on the High Point Fire Department for 30 years.  After retirement, Danny became very involved in the High Point Moose Lodge.  He served the lodge in many capacities.  He also was US Army Veteran and a member of the Sons of the Legion in High Point.  Danny supported the American Legion in High Point and military in many ways.

Danny was a very strong man who cared for many during his lifetime.  He was a very Proud man and a “Rock to lean on” for many.  After retirement, he enjoyed golfing with all his buddies and sharing stories of their adventures during their rounds.

Danny leaves behind his loving wife and caretaker JoAnne Barbour Griffin of 22 years; his faithful son Barry James Griffin and wife Amy of Thomasville; two loving step-sons Dennis Worley and wife Gaytha of Boise Idaho and Daniel Worley of Rocky Mount, VA; his devoted grandchildren Bayley and Caleb Griffin, 3 step-grandchildren Cale Worley and wife Ashleigh, Zachary Worley and wife Faith, Claire Worley, and great-grandson Tyler Worley.  He leaves behind many friends and family especially Pat Hardy, Prevost and Wayne who were awesome friends during his journey through life and in sickness.

A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, October 27, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Hilliard Memorial Baptist Church, High Point.  The family will receive friends following the service.
