Dan Peters

James Daniel “Dan” Peters, 67, of Thomasville, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2024, in the Atrium Health, Lexington Medical Center.

He was born November 3, 1956, in Elgin, Illinois to the late Harold Peters and the late Shirley Racine Peters.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Keith Peters.

Dan was a caring friend to many, always offering sound advice. That caring heart was found in his love for animals. He was a talented musician, playing the saxophone, the clarinet and piano; his love for music led him to his favorite band, “Toto”. Additionally, he was a gifted cook, sharing food with others.

He worked for Jo Darr Interiors as a drapery installer and was a true handyman. Dan could be found almost daily at Geroge’s Pizza, sharing stories and showing love to their many patrons. Dan served his country faithfully in the United States Navy.

Left to cherish his memory: his sister, Lynn Gray and his best friends, Philip and Kimberly Geiss; and a host of other friends.

Dan’s wishes were to have others celebrate his life they way they knew him best.
