Cyanne Denise Nifong-Arnold

Cyanne Denise Nifong Arnold, 61, of High Point, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2023, at High Point Medical Center.

Born January 23, 1962, in Forsyth County, she was a beloved daughter of the late Clay Harris and Fern Malcolm Nifong of Midway, NC.

Cyanne attended Midway Elementary, Lawson Brown Middle and North Davidson High School. Growing up, she attended Hebron United Church of Christ where she was baptized as an infant and later confirmed as a member. This is where she was instilled with traditional Christian values that she carried with her the rest of her life.

Some of her favorite jobs include working at Panera Bread where she was a licensed master baker, Atrium Windows & Doors and catering at the High Point Furniture Market.  She became a social butterfly working at the Overpass Lounge where she enjoyed meeting people. But what she enjoyed and was talented at was her Cyanne Collectibles business where she painted pecan resin figures. Her attention to detail was unmatched and the passion that she put into her work could be seen in every individual figure and craft. She was so very proud of her God-given artistic ability that she would take her creations and travel to various art shows/craft fairs. Her favorite and most notable was the Southern Christmas Show in Charlotte, NC.

What brought her tranquility and peace was to occasionally drive to the mountains to gather her own wreaths so she could bring them back home to transform into her holiday vision of Christmas peace and joy for her community; an inspired effort to bring the wreath symbolism of continuous life and eternity of God through her creative artistry.

She had many hobbies such as outdoor gardening and being an amateur horticultural specialist. She enjoyed watching true crime shows. She was especially talented in the kitchen where she loved to cook and bake favorites like peach cobbler and other sweet treats. A Sunday tradition was to go to Mayberry’s to eat hotdogs and banana splits.

Cyanne was a master at working with and having an extremely special connection with animals. This bond started to develop early on in her life on the farm in Midway. She had an Appaloosa named Freckles and a feisty quarter horse name Brownie.  She loved riding Brownie and racing through the pastures and woods with her cousins.  She could ride just as well as the boys; in her words, “the faster the better”. She had this intrinsic ability to earn the trust of her animals, leading to a bond that was unbreakable. This was most evident in her relationship with her horses. Growing up a tomboy, you could find her in the barn talking to and working with her horses, sporting her favorite cowboy boots. That rapport carried through the rest of her life, strengthening the bond that would never diminish. Her love for horses fueled her desire to become a horse trainer. She had such a wild and free spirit whether in the mountains or in the country, she loved to go trail riding with her dogs following close behind. Her carefree nature was evident every time she cast a rod into the stocked ponds where she found her love of fishing that carried throughout the rest of her life.

Cyanne was country-strong and a true southern gal who loved fried chicken with all the fixings and sitting on the porch drinking sweet iced tea. Her toughness mixed with determination gave her the outlook to overcome injuries that would have been devasting to most. She had this uncanny ability and gift to make other people feel special. Her heart was filled with the desire to do and care for others, helping them even if it meant that she went without. She loved kids, especially her daughter Amber, her grandchildren Bliss and Sabastian and her stepchildren. She had a special place in her heart for special needs children who she enjoyed taking for rides on her horses.

Cyanne is survived by her husband, Gordon Arnold, II of High Point; daughter, Amber Nifong Joyce of Trinity; siblings, Nanette Nifong Allen and husband Mike of Chapel Hill, Tanya Nifong Roberts and husband Brian of Kentucky, and Robyn Nifong Bryant and husband Michael of Durham; grandchildren, Bliss Joyce, and Sabastian Joyce; and many nieces and nephews.

She also leaves behind her beloved, faithful, protective companion Ralphie, an Australian Shepard, who will dearly miss her.

A Service of Remembrance is being planned.
