William Clay Craven, 93, of Kernersville, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

Born December 4, 1923, in Guilford County, he was the son of the late William Ray Craven and the late Leila Payne Craven. Mr. Craven was a veteran of the US Navy and served on the LST 1102, and was a recipient of the Piedmont Triad Flight of Honor. He was a retired long distance truck driver and a member of High Point Primitive Baptist Church.

Mr. Craven is survived by his daughters, Jane Helms of Kernersville, and Susan Myers and husband Glenn of Mocksville; sister, Elizabeth Marion of High Point; grandchildren, Jarrett Helms and wife Christi, Stephen Helms, Bethany Helms, Jonathan Helms and wife Michelle, Jason Myers and wife Jillian, and Robert Myers and wife Courtney; great-grandchildren, Elsa Helms, Aveline Helms, Andrew Myers, Lilly Myers, Luke Myers, Lydia Myers, June Myers, and Ford Myers.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Mildred Louise Hedgecock Craven, and sister, Helen Idol.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Abbotts Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Glenn Myers officiating.
