Clay Cox

Ernest Clay Cox, 94, of Snow Camp, went home to be with the Lord early Monday morning, November 25, 2024, at the Alamance Regional Medical Center.

On July 17, 1949, he married the late Mary Nell Largen Cox, and they spent 67 years together until her passing in 2017.

In 1986, Clay and his wife Mary, built a house on their small beef cow farm in Snow Camp; shortly thereafter, Clay retired from Burlington Industries after over 40 years of dedicated work. Farm life was more of a hobby to Clay but one that brought much joy to his family. He was never afraid to put in the hard work required to maintain a strong work ethic.

Clay served in the United States Air Force where he gained a love for the P-51 Mustang. He took many trips with his friends, Monroe Waldon, Frank Shepherd, and Max McLamb to the annual Air Show at the EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, WI. In 2017, he was able to go with his son and grandsons for his last trip.
