It is with great sadness that the family of Cheryl “Cherie” Johnston announces her passing on July 21, 2018, after a hard battle.

Born January 23, 1944, in Belmont, NY, she was a daughter of the late Tommy Johnston and the late Bernita Nye Johnston. Cherie graduated from Belmont Central High School and Erie Community College in Buffalo, NY. She was a resident of the High Point/Kernersville area for over thirty years. Cherie’s love of all things was evident in her feeding the homeless, serving the helpless, cheering up a sad friend, taking flowers to the nursing homes, and loving people as they are. She loved her flower gardens, but loved family and friends the most.

Cherie is survived by her daughter, Angie Turner and husband Andy of High Point; son, Scott Banasik of High Point; always loved like a daughter, Tanya Shelton and husband Todd of Kernersville; sister, Julie Preston and husband Bob of Williamsville, NY; brother, David Johnston of Miami, Fl; grandchildren, Chad Moore, Bradley Turner, Matthew Turner, Kateyln Shelton, Jilliann Banasik, and Ashley Craven; great-grandchildren, Jamie, Tori, Spencer, and Anna Grace; nieces and nephews, Dave Preston, Laura Preston, Jenny Otten, Chalice Johnston, and Eric Johnston.

Memorial services will be held at the Paul J. Ciener Botanical Gardens in Kernersville in a few weeks.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a memorial garden fund for Cherie at Soviero’s Tri-County Garden Center, 3818 North Main St., High Point, NC 27265 Attn: Cherie Johnston Memorial.

Condolences may be expressed online at www.wrightfs.com.
