Charles Wesley Hartsoe, 88, of High Point, passed away Monday, May 15, 2017, at Pennybyrn at Maryfield.

Charlie was born July 5, 1928, in Hamilton, Ohio.  His parents were U. G. and Elizabeth Eller Hartsoe.  He graduated from Rising Sun High School, Rising Sun, MD in 1945 and from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 1949.  He was a member of Beta Alpha Psi, Honorary Accounting Fraternity.  He married Colleen Ivey Hartsoe in Corpus Christi, TX, in 1951.

Charlie served in the US Army from 1950 to 1952 and was assigned to the Armed Forces Security Agency in Arlington, VA.  He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1954.   He worked for Ernst & Ernst Public Accounting firm in Winston-Salem, NC, from 1952 until 1961.  Charlie joined Adams-Millis Corporation, High Point, NC, in 1961 as Secretary and Assistant Treasurer.  He became Vice President and Treasurer before leaving to go to High Point College as Business Manager.

Charlie was active in St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, serving on the vestry several times, as treasurer, and on the finance committee.  He volunteered regularly for Youth Unlimited and Mobile Meals.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dr. Eileen Hartsoe.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Colleen Hartsoe; daughter, Karen Grier (Bob); son, Chuck Hartsoe; and five grandchildren.

Following a private funeral service, interment will be in St. Mary’s Episcopal Church Columbarium.  Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, Mobile Meals, or St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.
