Celia Youmans Dunning

Celia Virginia Youmans Dunning, 88, passed to rest with Jesus on March 8th, 2022.

Celia was the only child born to Clarence Edwin Youmans and Aimee Dunwoody Youmans.  Celia was born February 18, 1934, in Aiken, SC. She spent most of her childhood in Fletcher, NC.  Later she graduated from Forest Lake SDA Academy in Apopka Florida.  In 1954, Celia earned her associates degree from Southern Missionary College (Southern Adventist University) and her bachelor’s degree at Andrews University in Michigan.

She spent several years working at Florida State University working as a registrar. She later worked at the General Conference of Seventh Day Adventist Church and retired in 1979.  She married Roy A. Dunning, Sr on July 25, 1979, who proceeded her in death, July 10, 2020. Celia was a devout member of the High Point Seventh Day Adventist Church for over 40 years and had a special place in her heart for her many friends there.  Celia loved going to church, spending time with her husband and family, music, traveling, and visiting the beach.

Celia is survived by a stepson, Roy Dunning, Jr of Star, stepdaughters, JoAnn Sapp (Lee) of Archdale and Judy Burke (Gary) of Oxford, Fl, 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, her niece Angelia Arnold, and cousins MaryAnn and Elizabeth.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, March 11, 2022, at High Point Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor Mark Kent.  Burial will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM, prior to the service.

The family would like to thank the staff of Randolph Hospice for the love and care they gave to Celia.
