Catherine Atansay-Matthews

Catherine Hoffman Atansay-Matthews, 60, of High Point, passed away Friday, January 3, 2025, at High Point Medical Center.

She was born January 22, 1964, in Chicago, IL to the late Gerald Emory Hoffman, and to the late Marie Occhiutto Hoffman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Montre’ Matthews; brother, Billy Hoffman; sisters, Babs Hoffman, Angie Hoffman and Joan Hoffman.

Left to cherish her memory; her beloved husband, James “Chuck” Matthews; sons, Michael Matthews of Greensboro, Ahmet Atansay, Jr. of High Point, Thomas Matthews of High Point, Timothy Matthews of High Point; daughter, Semra Leary and husband David of Smithfield; brothers, Gerald Hoffman, Jr. and Russell Hoffman. Sisters, Marie Bumgarner, Julie Shelton and Charlene Hoffman; 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Memorial Service will be 1:00PM Saturday, January 11, 2025, in the sanctuary of Bethany Baptist Church; 574 Tower Rd., Thomasville; with Reverend Tom Fields officiating.

The family will greet friends following the service.
