Carolyn Maynard

Carolyn Wood Maynard, 69, of Archdale, passed away unexpectedly Friday September 11, 2026, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born March 22, 1957, in High Point, she was a daughter of the late Hughene Charles Wood and the late Ruth Elizabeth Stack Wood.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Bobby Eugene Wood, Kenneth Charles Wood, and Ronald Lee Wood; and brother-in-law, Ernest Stevenson “Steve” Harvell.

Carolyn was the most selfless, beautiful and irreplaceable Mama and Meme to all her family and all who knew her. She loved the beach, animals and her back porch along with her sweet tea with a lot of ice and real lemon. But most of all she loved her family and was crazy about her grandchildren and was their protector. She worked with children all of her life and cherished each one of them. Carolyn loved to shop with Austin and loved getting dressed up to go places. She could recite every episode of Andy Griffith from beginning to end. Carolyn was a strong, Godly woman who loved the simple things and was a true Patriot to her core. She and Ronnie raised their children at Colonial Heights Baptist Church where they were long time members.

Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Ronnie Morris Maynard of the home; sons, Nicholas Kyle Maynard and wife Tabitha of Huntersville, Ronnie Austin Maynard of Greensboro; grandchildren, Cash Morris Maynard and Adalyn “Addie” Ann Maynard; sister, Vickie Wood Harvell; sisters-in-law, Zula Parker, Lola Saunders (Sherman) and Pat Wood; and her many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 3:00PM Thursday, September 17, 2026, in the Archdale Chapel of Wright Funerals-Cremations with Reverend Steve Smith officiating.

Burial will follow at Guil-Rand Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 2:00-2:45PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
