Carolyn Blevins

Carolyn Kay Blevins, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025, at Hospice House in High Point, NC. She was 82 years old.

Born on September 21, 1942, in Chicago, IL, Carolyn was the beloved daughter of Charles Roy Rice and Fern Marie Rice. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Larry Blevins, her brother Charles Roy Rice Jr., her sister Juanita Sue Spradlin, her sister-in-law Linda Carol Rice, and her nephew Daniel Wayne Reed.

She is lovingly survived by her brother, Gary Michael Rice of Monroe, MI; her daughter, Sharri Leigh Parks (Edwin) of Jamestown, NC; and her son, Gregory Thomas Meade (Melissa) of Stanton, KY. Carolyn was a devoted grandmother to Colin Hunter Parks of Jamestown, NC; Kaylee Morgan Parks (Jaxon Duke, fiancée) of Jamestown, NC; Cory Thomas Meade (Drew) of Clay City, KY; Cade Evan Meade of Summerville, SC; Lauren Faith Mullins (Jason) of Clay City KY; and Jalan Everett Payne of Stanton, KY. Her great-grandchildren, Gavin Brown, Everlee Mullins, and Elliot Mullins, brought her immense joy.

She also leaves behind nieces and nephews who she cherished.

Carolyn had a fulfilling and varied career, excelling in roles such as accounting for U.S. Steel, working as a tool and die maker for Square D Corporation, and running her own tree service business in Florida.

A woman of steadfast faith and remarkable resilience, Carolyn was known for her strength, kind and compassionate heart, her love for laughter and her adventurous spirit. Her greatest joy was family, especially her grandchildren who brought immense light into her life.

Carolyn found happiness in the simple pleasures of life – cherishing the beauty of sunsets, tending her flower garden, and watching the birds that would visit. She loved the beach, the ocean, boating and eagerly watching dolphins. She loved being at the lake with family and friends, boating and fishing and spending time outdoors.

Her warm spirit extended beyond her family to her many friends, cultivated over the years in the various places she called home. Carolyn will be remembered for her unwavering strength, independence, and deep capacity for love.

Though her time on this earth has come to an end, Carolyn’s legacy will live on in the lives of those she touched. Her laughter will echo in the stories her family tells, her kindness will inspire acts of compassion, and her love will continue to grow in the hearts of those who carry her memory. She has left a beautiful mark on all who knew her, and her spirit will forever remain a part of us.

Her family will honor her life and legacy in a celebration at a later date.

Wright Funerals-Cremations, High Point, is in charge of the arrangements.
