Carolyn Joan Dull Long, 86, of High Point, passed away on her birthday Friday, October 24, 2025, at Hospice Home of High Point.
Born October 24, 1939, in Yadkin County, she was a daughter of the late Wiley Hubert Dull and the late Gracie Mae Hunter Dull. Carolyn was a longtime member and life Deacon of Emerywood Baptist Church. Professionally she was a property and furniture showroom manager. She was well traveled and lived in France for several years. Her son, Young Jay, as she liked to call him, learned many things by watching and listening to his mother. She adored her daughter in-law Nicky and found her greatest joy in her two grandchildren, Trip and Jacoby. She loved Labrador retrievers, animals in general and cared for several raccoons.
Carolyn is survived by her husband of sixty-four years, James A. Long, Sr. of the home: son James “Jay” A. Long, Jr. and wife Nicky of High Point; sister, Brenda Spillman of East Bend; grandchildren, James “Trip” Long, III, and Jacoby Long, as well as very special nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Harry Gray Dull; and sisters Thelma Wall, and Marie Wooten.
A service of remembrance will be held Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 3pm in the fellowship hall of Emerywood Baptist Church. The family will receive guests after the service.
