Bruce Kenneth “Butch” Barton, 71, of 216 Polk St., passed away Friday, September 16, 2016 at High Point Regional Hospital.

Born May 19, 1945 in Davidson County, he was a son of the late John Bruce Barton and the late Charlotte Varner Barton. Mr. Barton was a US Navy veteran and was a retired truck driver with over forty years of service. He played football at Thomasville High School and was a member of the 1963 All State Football Team. Mr. Barton was a member of Hillside Park Baptist Church. He loved his church, reading his bible and all of his animals.

Mr. Barton is survived by his wife of thirty-seven years, Brenda Duncan Barton of the home; son, Jon Barton of High Point; daughter, Valerie Tilley and husband Larry of Thomasville; brother. Jerome Barton of Thomasville; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild and his four-legged companion, Booper.

A celebration of life will be conducted at 12:00 PM Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Hillside Park Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Chipps officiating.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM prior to the service at the church and throughout the day Friday at the home of his daughter.
