Brenda Gwen Smith

Listen to Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing, on June 5, 2026, of Brenda Gwen Stewart Smith, loving and generous daughter of James and Dorothy Stewart, mother of Ty Owens, mother-in-law of Emily Owens, grandmother of Hayley and Mia, wife of Richard Smith, and friend to so many. Brenda was born on August 18, 1947 in Greensboro, NC, and grew up in High Point - later residing in Charlotte and Jamestown.

Throughout all stages of her life, Brenda was an incredibly unselfish, creative, and youthful soul who celebrated music, dance, art and design, with a special appreciation for the paintings of Andrew Wyeth. She was a master doll collector, wanted to adopt every animal she met and was happiest when giving gifts (her favorite hobby) to family or friends. What’s more, Brenda was an artist and author in her own right and a fabulous storyteller. Her curiosity about life was unmatched, and she was always interested in the next adventure.

Words cannot describe how much she will be missed, but we find solace in one of her favorite quotes, from A. A. Milne: “If ever there is tomorrow when we’re not together… there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we’re apart… I’ll always be with you.”

At the family’s request, there will be no service at this time.

Wright Funerals-Cremations, High Point is in charge of arrangements.
