Bonnie Wheless Mathis

Bonnie Wheless Mathis, 101, of Archdale, passed away Friday, June 28, 2024, at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.

She was born October 18, 1922, in Valdosta, GA; daughter to the late Leonard Wheless and the late Eva Mae Radcliff Wheless.

Mrs. Mathis was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She enjoyed reading a good book and taking many walks enjoying sights and scenery.

Mrs. Mathis is survived by her daughter, Gayle Powell of Archdale; grandchildren, Anthony Nicosia and wife Kari, Stephanie Lipnick and husband Michael and Leigh Grimes; great grandchildren, Anthony Nicosia, Jr, Whitney St. Laurant and husband Joel, and Porter Grimes; and great-great grandchildren, Andi, Tilly, Ralphie and Jeffrey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Freddie R. Mathis; daughter, Jacqueline Nicosia; brothers, Paul Wheles, Larry Wheles and Guy Wheles; and sister, Clarice Pike.

Mrs. Mathis will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Sarasota National Cemetery at a later date.
