James R. (Bobby) Horne High Point, NC

James R. (Bobby) Horne Jr. formally of Suffolk, VA passed away on February 6, 2023, at Westchester Harbour in High Point, NC.

Bobby was born on August 18, 1932, in Whaleyville, VA. He was a graduate of Whaleyville High School. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany during his service. Upon returning home, he fell in love and married Carolyn Bell and was married for 66 years. He was an electrician by trade and worked in the Newport News Shipbuilding until his retirement. This experience led him to serve many small businesses and residential electrical needs in the Suffolk area. He was a baseball fan, wood craftsman, hunter, and a faithful friend to all who knew him. As a deacon at First Baptist Church of Suffolk, he served the youth ministry, as an usher, and on several church committees through the years. He loved serving His Lord by serving and sharing with as many people as he could as often as he could.

He was preceded in death by his father, James R. Horne, Sr. and mother, Lora Raiford Horne and his son-in-law, Robert A. Lehrbaum.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his daughter, Jane Lehrbaum of Pompano Beach, FL, daughter, Karen (Mike) Severs of High Point, NC; brothers, Glenn Horne, Steve Horne, and Alan Horne. He was Poppy to Rebekah, Daniel, Joseph, and Hannah.

The Family would like to say a special thank you to all the wonderful staff at Westchester Habour who have loved and served Mr. Horne (Paw Paw) over these past 18 months.

Services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Suffolk, 237 N. Main St., Suffolk, VA at 11:00 am with visitation to follow on Saturday, February 11, 2023.
