Billie Stroud Owens, 87, of Sweetbriar Ct., passed away Sunday July 3, 2016 at High Point Regional Hospital.

Born June 7, 1929 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Klyma Stroud and the late Nancy Yount Stroud. Mrs. Owens was a 1955 graduate of High Point University and was crowned “May Queen” in 1953. She was a member of the High Point Woman’s Club and served as President and was named “Woman of the Year”. She was a retired school teacher and a lifelong member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Owens is survived by her son, Rick Owens of High Point; daughters, Wendy Owens of Yadkinville and Misty Holland and husband Derek of  TX; grandchildren, Kristin, Richard and Dustin; aunt, Helen Yount of Lincolnton; sister-in-laws, Linda Owens Shaw and Gwen Saunders Owens and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Richard Hutchens Owens, Sr. in 1998 following forty years of marriage.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Friday, July 8, 2016 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Jennifer Krushas officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Park.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 2:45 PM Friday prior to the service at the church.
