Betty Lester Shepherd, 69, passed away on April 28, 2026, at High Point Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Born October 31, 1956, in Wyoming County, WV; she was a daughter of the late Eula Lester and the late Mildred Steele Lester.

She is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 52 years, Tony Shepherd; her two sons, Shawn Shepherd (daughter-in-love Dawn) and Casey Shepherd (daughter-in-love Shelley); and her four beautiful grandchildren, Samarah, Cayson “Joe Joe,” Grayson, and Amelia “Millie Moo,” along with a bonus granddaughter, Carlee; brothers, Jay Lester and Ernie Lester; and her sister, Josie Gibson.

Betty was preceded in death by her father, Eula; her mother, Mildred; and her brothers, Bucky, Gene, and Junior.

She leaves behind many special people who meant so much to her, including Dolores and her husband Richie Gorman, Brenda Jessie, Judy Bailey, her niece Hope and husband Rodney, and their children, Cody and Savannah, great nephew Zack Paynter, along with many other dear friends and loved ones too numerous to name.

Betty was a strong and vibrant woman who loved to cook and entertain and entertain she did. She was especially known for her sweet cakes and delicious cookies, which brought joy to so many. She had a passion for gardening, shopping, and playing slot machines. She also cherished traveling with Tony, especially to Cherokee and Danville.

Betty loved deeply, never met a stranger, and made everyone feel welcome. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her. Her light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

In accordance with Betty’s wishes, a private family viewing will be held, followed by cremation. Flowers and food may be sent to the family’s home: 3072 Hoover Hill Rd., Trinity, NC 27370.
