With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Betty Peele, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who peacefully departed this life surrounded by the love of her family. Betty's kindness, unwavering faith, generous spirit, and love for those around her touched countless lives. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, strength, and cherished memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Betty was born in February 1943. Her parents were Howard and Alice Setzer. She had three sisters, Carolyn, Brenda and a fraternal twin Billie. She went to High Point High School and graduated from there.
She had a daughter, Stephanie Peele Philbin who gave her three grandchildren, Callie Elizabeth 30, Taylor Anne 29, and Cole Hayes 23.
She was a beautiful person. Everyone who met her loved her. She loved to dance and won a contest for dancing. She worked in the medical field for years.
She will be missed greatly and kept in our hearts.
-Stephanie
I have never in my life met someone as beautiful as Nana, inside and out. Anywhere I took her, she didn’t let one person go by us without telling them to smile and to have a great day; she would even tell people they were beautiful. The way they lit up for her; that was Nana. She never failed to make people laugh. I hate everything about losing her. But I got to spend 30 years feeling unconditionally loved, beautiful, and constantly laughing. She was one of a kind. Heaven gained an amazing angel; and I know she’s up there with her sisters now and for that I can only be grateful. I love you Nana, and I’m gonna miss you so so much.
-Callie
Betty, or as we call her Nana, was the sunshine to everyone’s day. She made everyone laugh on their bad days by the funky faces she would make or just by the things she would say. I would not be where i am today if it wasn’t for her. She was a huge part of my life. She was such a blessing. She blessed everyone’s life she came into. I love her dearly and will cherish every memory i have with her. No one can compare to her. In her last days here she gave us the best of her. She will be dearly missed.
-Taylor
She had a heart big enough to make everyone feel like family. She never met a stranger, treating everyone she encountered with the same kindness, warmth, and acceptance. Some of our sweetest memories were the simple moments spent sitting outside together, watching the clouds drift by as we imagined them into people, animals, and all kinds of wonderful shapes. She enjoyed life's simple pleasures a cold beer, a cigarette, and good company but nothing brought her more joy than the people she loved. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she loved each of us fiercely and unconditionally. Her laughter, gentle spirit, and the love she shared so freely will remain in our hearts forever.
-Cole
I wouldn't be who I am today if it wasn't for Nana. She took me in when no one else would. She loved me unconditionally. I made a lot of mistakes growing up, but she never judged me. She only kept building my confidence, reminding me that I could change. She had so much love to give, even when you didn't feel like hearing it. She will always be Nana to me. If there's one person I could choose to be at the pearly gates waiting for me, I hope she's one of them.
-Bill
While we grieve her passing, we find comfort in knowing she is at peace in the presence of the Lord. Her memory and love will remain with us always.
