Betty Ruth Clemmons Janke Compton, 83, of Greensboro, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Beacon Place.

Born October 12, 1933 in Greensboro, she was a daughter of the late Roy William Clemmons and the late Fawnie Seawell Sorah. Mrs. Compton started her career at Jefferson Standard, worked for the Selective Service during the Korean War and retired from UNC-G with over twenty years of service. She loved the Lord and shared His love with many. Mrs. Compton had a great sense of humor, was a mother to many and loved her country.

She is survived by her husband of twenty-five years, Johnny Compton of the home; daughters, Marta Richardson and husband, Duane of Greenboro, Myra Kay Moore and husband David of Liberty, and Barbara Koenig and husband Bob of Matthews; grandchildren, Jennifer, Michael, Sarah, Hannah, Rebekah, Rachel, Abbey and Lydia; the father of her children, Kurt Janke of Greensboro; sisters-in-law, Ruth Stout and Lemzie Clemmons.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Roy Clemmons, Richard Clemmons and John Clemmons.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Faith Wesleyan Church, 4425 Rehobeth Church Rd., Greensboro, NC 27406.
