Betty Maurice (Babson) Campbell

Betty Maurice Babson Campbell, 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 26, 2025, surrounded by the comfort of her family.

Born June 20, 1938, in the Freeland community of Brunswick County, NC, Betty was the fifth of eight children born to Delta Odessa Inman Babson and Albert Erdon Babson.

In 1953, she married Felton Campbell, Sr. They moved their young family to Thomasville in 1962 in pursuit of economic opportunity. Betty spent her working years in furniture manufacturing and hospitality. In retirement, she found purpose in serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Betty's children, Roseanna McCarter, Felton Campbell, Jr., and Martha (Donnie) Whaley, lovingly cared for her during her years' long battle with dementia. She leaves behind a legacy of six grandchildren, Tracy McCarter, Melissa Whaley, Charity (Ryan) Cartrette, Chrystal (Rusty) Talent, Rebecca (Andrew) Nooe, and Cassie (Seth) Casey, twelve great-grandchildren, and two great-great-granddaughters who will remember her unconditional love and legendary cornbread. Betty is also survived by two sisters, Eunice Smith and Nina Stanley, and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Timmie Campbell, two grandchildren, Felicia Campbell and Jason Campbell, her brothers, Monroe Babson and Bobby Babson, and three sisters, Dorothy Kelly, Mae Simmons, and Shirley Carteret.

Funeral service will be Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the Wright Funerals-Cremations, High Point Chapel.

Burial will follow in the Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 10:00-10:45am, prior to the service at the funeral home.
