Bertha Viola Lowe McGee, 97, of High Point, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Adams Farm Living and Rehabilitation.
Born August 15, 1928, in Guilford County, she was a daughter of the late Albert Lee Lowe and the late Florence Pierce Lowe.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jesse Lowe and James Lowe.
On August 18, 1951, at Calvary Methodist church, she married her husband, James “Jim” Frazier McGee, Sr., and together they celebrated 74 years of marriage.
Mrs. McGee and Jim were faithful members of Calvary Methodist Church where she sang in the choir from her teenage years, and raising their three children in the faith. Later they became charter members of Covenant United Methodist Church where she played organ and sang in the choir.
She was a High Point College graduate and taught kindergarten at Jack and Jill School for years.
Those left to cherish her memory; her beloved husband, Jim McGee; sons, James “Frazier” McGee, Jr. and wife Nancy of Jamestown, and David “Wesley” McGee and wife Audrey of Vale, NC; daughter, Susan “Ann” Powers and husband Bill of Charlotte; grandchildren, Frazier McGee III, Paige McGee, Alex McGee, Meredith England (Jared), Kathryn Edwards (Justin), Kelley Bryan (Zachary), Shannon McGee-Henries (Dale), and Sarah Powers; and great grandchildren, Jackson England, Edith “Edi” England, Randy Edwards, Lee Edwards, Elizabeth Bryan, Naomi Bryan, Erin Bryan, and Ember McGee-Henries
Funeral Service will be 3:00PM Friday, June 12, 2026, at Covenant Church United Methodist; 1526 Skeet Club Rd, High Point, NC 27265; with the Rev. Dr. Darren Alexander officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
Entombment will be 1:00PM Monday, June 15, 2026, at Floral Garden Memorial Park Mausoleum.
