Benjamin Wilfred Barkley, 43, of Peace Haven Rd., passed away Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born February 9, 1973 in Portsmouth, VA, he was a son of Maxine Hindle Barkley of Winston-Salem and the late Wilfred Barkley. Ben was a gentle giant who spent five years in Canada where he met his wife, Jodi of sixteen years. He loved music, his five poodles and was a huge movie trivia buff.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Jodi Smit Barkley; daughter, Ivy Barkley both of the home; brother, Terry Paul Hindle and wife Susan of Greensboro; aunt, Janet Sullivan of Winston-Salem; in-laws, Jerry and Jan Smit of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Jennifer and John Kilburn of Neepawa, Manitoba, Jacki and Adam Erstelle of Cumming, GA; nieces and nephews, Maddy and Macey Kilburn, Zoey and Kurt Benjamin Erstelle, Cece and Walker Hindle and Kaley and Kamryn Mueller; close friends, John Bays of Durham and Nathan Mueller and wife Leigh of Kernersville.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 9, 2016 in Clemmons Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bill Hoyle officiating.
