After a valiant 4 month attempt to treat metastatic Melanoma (brain) and Leptomeningeal Disease, we are deeply grieved that at 5:23 AM, Barrett Butcher Carraway passed away Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Hospice of High Point.

Barrett was born in Jackson, MI August 22,1981 to James C. Butcher, of Laguna Niguel, CA, and Pamela J. Chance, of Raleigh, NC. Barrett was predeceased by both her paternal grandparents, Lewis Keith Butcher and Genevieve Marie (Clyster) Butcher and maternal grandparents, Winton Louis Chance and Margaret Elizabeth (Furrell) Chance.

She met life with persistence, resilience and a strong determination to succeed. She attended Montessori School of Raleigh, Carnage Middle and Enloe High School-1999, Raleigh, NC and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Recreational Therapy from UNC- Greensboro, in 2003 and was a huge Carolina Tar Heel fan. She earned her Girl Scout Silver Award by advocating that American Sign Language be accepted for foreign language college credit. Due in part to her genetic disorder, Neurofibromatosis (NF), Barrett dedicated her life working with differently abled persons and the neurodiverse. Barrett worked summers at Camp Friendly, Raleigh Parks and Rec.

She married her beloved husband, Kyle Mason Carraway on May 5, 2007. Barrett recently celebrated 25 years employment with Amivie (formerly Lindley Habilitation). She was an extraordinary volunteer with multiple charitable organizations. Barrett had a heart for the Lord. She was active in Crossroads Fellowship Youth Group, Raleigh, NC. She volunteered for 20 years at Westover Church High School Ministry in Greensboro. She is currently a member of Hope City, Winston-Salem, NC.

Those left to cherish her memory; her husband of 18 years, Kyle Mason Carraway, and children, Brandon Elijah Carraway and Aubrey Elise Carraway, High Point, NC. Father, James C.
