Barbara Thayer May, 72, of Franklinville, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Randolph Hospice House.

Born January 7, 1946, in Guilford County, she was a daughter of the late Colon Walker Thayer and the late Mildred Alee Pendergraft Thayer. Mrs. May was the 1964 Valedictorian of Allen Jay High School and graduated from High Point University in 1968. She retired from Penn Western Benefits with twenty-five years of service and attended Grace Chapel United Methodist Church. Mrs. May enjoyed her family, the outdoors, gardening, and cooking.

She is survived by her husband of forty-two years, Max Leroy May of the home; daughter, Whitney May of the home; brother, Gary Thayer of High Point; sisters, Mildred Cook and husband Roger of Archdale, and Elizabeth Cruthis of Archdale.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, March 23, 2018, at Guil-Rand Memorial Park with Rev. Morris Little officiating.
