Listen to Obituary

It is with profound sadness that the family of Anna Wamsley Fugitt, 86, announces the news of her passing on May 2, 2026. Anna peacefully passed at home, surrounded by family.

Anna was born on October 27, 1939, in Ashland, Kentucky, the youngest of eleven children to the late William and Lila Ellis Wamsley.

She was preceded in death by her parents and ten siblings: Clarence, William, Elwood, Raymond, Robert, Ruth, Hazel, Betty, Paul, and Mary.

She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Bobby Glen Fugitt, whom she married soon after being introduced by his sister, Kathleen; daughters, Melissa Fugitt Humphrey (Rick Hampton), Julie Fugitt Ehrick (Rhett), and Caroline Fugitt Harris (Andrew); grandchildren, Emily Schultz, Joshua Fugitt (Heather), and Matthew Shultz.

Anna was a member of Christ Methodist Church in Ashland, KY, and worked as a senior accountant for CSX in Ashland, KY, until her retirement.

We are deeply grateful for her life, as she was the cornerstone of our family and a source of endless love and strength. Anna spent numerous hours at her sewing machine making Halloween costumes, evening gowns, and colorful clothing for her girls when they were growing up, and then for her grandchildren. Anna also created beautiful handmade quilts with perfect stitches. She also enjoyed cross-stitching, but her greatest joy was taking care of her family and cooking Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. Anna loved her husband, Bobby, without measure, and they shared a beautiful life, sticking together through thick and thin.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Caniff Funeral Home, with Senior Pastor Jeff C. Canfield of the Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Louisa. Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, May 8, 2026, from 6 – 8 PM at the funeral home.

Wright Funerals-Cremations, High Point, handled local arrangements.
