Allie Patricia Simmons Childress, 83, of Greensboro, passed away Monday, January 1, 2018, at Hospice Home at High Point.

Born January 3, 1934, in Laurens, SC, she was a daughter of the late Barney Simmons and the late Kathleen Culbertson Simmons. Mrs. Childress retired from Laurens County School System.

She is survived by her son, Col (Ret) Franklin Fuller Childress of Lorton, VA; daughter, Kay Rhodenhiser and husband Michael of Greensboro; and six grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Fuller Childress, Sr., and daughter, Mary Jane Gwinn.
