Alan Pernell Hethcox

Alan “Hardrock” Pernell Hethcox, 63, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2026, with his family by his side, after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

Alan was born on December 7, 1962, at High Point Hospital. He graduated from Ragsdale High School with the Class of 1981 and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He spent his career as a semi-trailer mechanic.

Alan loved riding his Harleys with the United Riders, and nothing made him happier than a trip to what he called his “happy place” in Hillsville, Virginia. He also enjoyed buying and selling on Facebook Marketplace, and he liked posting just enough to get folks riled up, all in good fun?

Though he was a quiet man, everyone he met became his friend. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, son, and pawpaw.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Haylean.

He is survived by his wife, Angie Hethcox; his parents, Bucky and Loretta Hethcox; his children, Amanda Rhoney (Michael), Chris Hethcox, Shannon Baldwin (Austin), Randale Fulbright, and Dean Small (Kaitlyn); his grandchildren, Gentry, Mychael, Dakota, Raelynn, Franklin, and Ella; his sister, Linda Transou (David); and his brother, Doug Hethcox (Frances).

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 22, 2026, in thIn lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Patriot Guard Riders. https://patriotguard.org/e High Point Chapel of Wright Funerals-Cremations.

The family will visit with friends from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM prior to the service.
