Gene Briggs

Horace “Gene” Briggs, 82 of Kernersville, passed away Friday, December 30,2022 at Randolph County Hospice.

Born on June 24,1940, in Guilford County, he was the son of Horace Briggs and Esther Murphy Briggs. He graduated from High Point High School in 1958 and was a Navy Veteran. Gene owned and operated the Alamo Styling Shop and retired from barbering December 31,2021 after 51 years. On July 21,1963, Gene married the love of his life Donnie Saferight and had two beautiful children. He was a Mason and Past Master and 50 year member of Numa F. Reid #344 and was a member of the High Point Shrine Club. His most important membership was to his church, Mount Pleasant Church and Journey class.

Surviving is his wife, Donnie Briggs; son, James Randall (Randy) Briggs (Tracy) of Kernersville; daughter, Teresa Jean (Terri) Briggs of Charlotte; grandchildren, Robert Anderson (Courtney), Larissa Martinez, Trevor and Travis Briggs; great grandchildren, Lily Grace “Princess” Anderson and James Anderson. He is also survived by sisters Doris Lee Briggs of Thomasville, Carol Ann Ingram of Greensboro and brother John Kenneth Briggs (June) of Mississippi.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, January 2, 2023, at Mount Pleasant Church with Rev. Chris Clontz officiating. Family will receive friends following the service at the church.
