Elizabeth Carrington Harrington

Elizabeth “Betty Raye” Carrington Harrington, 79, passed away on May 21, 2024, in Greensboro, NC.

She was born February 23, 1945, in Moore County to Robert Wiley Carrington and Jessie McCaskill Carrington. After graduating from Aberdeen High School, she continued her studies at St. Mary's and completed her degree in Mathematics from UNC Chapel Hill.

Elizabeth began her working career in Charlotte at J.P. Stevens.  While there, her supervisor and friend, Mary Lou Paterson, introduced Elizabeth to her brother, Don Harrington.  They hit it off and were married in 1973.  They made their home in Charlotte where, for many years, she worked as a realtor and they were members, first of Sharon Presbyterian and then Sovereign Grace Presbyterian.

Elizabeth was a kind, happy woman who loved being a grandmother.  After Don’s passing in 2019, she moved to the Greensboro area and became a member of Gate City Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her four brothers Robert, Ted, Kenneth, and Sterling Carrington.

She is survived by her son, Todd and wife Katie, and by her daughter Caroline Owens and husband Michael; eight grandchildren, Max and Josie Harrington, Nathan, Andrew, Phillip, Catherine, Peter and John Owens.

A memorial service to honor her life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Gate City Baptist Church.

The family will visit with friends from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Gate City Baptist Church, 5250 Hilltop Road, Jamestown, NC 27282.
