James Burt Edwards, 84, of Lexington, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2019, at his home.
James was the son of the late Ira Lee Edwards and the late Mary Jones Edwards. He was a US Army veteran and was a retired electrician with the City of High Point.
James was an inspiration and joy to all who knew him. He loved God, his family, church family, and friends. He also enjoyed playing the piano, gardening, fishing and he was a race fan. James had an ear for music and was always honored to use his gift to bring glory to God and joy to others as he played the piano at churches, nursing homes and with friends.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Groom Edwards; sons, Timothy Edwards (Ronda), Michael Edwards (Barbara), and David Edwards (Wanda), four stepchildren, three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Smith Edwards in 2007.
A service celebrating James’ life will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at Trinity Baptist Church where James was an active member, with Rev. Morris Little officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Park.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
