Robert “Bob” Franklin Matthews, Jr.

Robert “Bob” Franklin Matthews, Jr., 81, of High Point, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at Hospice Home at High Point.
Born December 6, 1938, in Guilford County, he was a son of the late Robert Franklin Matthews, Sr. and the late Marguerite Oldham Matthews. Mr. Matthews was a retired supervisor with Service Distributors, and played the drums with Moon Mullins and the Night Raiders. He was a member of Laurel Oak Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Katherine Phillips Matthews of the home; sons, Robert Matthews, III and wife Tracy of Thomasville, Chris Matthews and wife Talara of Mocksville, and Bret Matthews and wife Hannah of High Point; daughter, Michelle Matthews of High Point; and four grandchildren, Jacob, Tessa, Tyler, and Graham Matthews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Matthews.
Memorial services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 11, 2020, at Laurel Oak Christian Church with Pastor Allen Brown and Michael Harris officiating.
