Bob Lindquist, 93, of Thomasville, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2018, at Piedmont Crossing.

Bob was born and raised in Sycamore IL to Elmer and Mary Lindquist on November 1, 1925. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Grace Wig. 

Upon graduation from high school in 1943, Bob enlisted in the USArmy Air Corp and entered gunnery school. He was assigned to the position of tail gunner for the 13th Air Force in the Boeing B24 Long Range Bomber. He was stationed on the Island of Morotai in the South Pacific. During the great WWII Bob flew 44 successful bombing missions and earned numerous air combat medals and awards. He was a true American hero. 

At the conclusion of WW11 Bob attended and graduated from Drake University in Des Moines Iowa. While at Drake University he met and married the love of his life Patricia “Pat” and they settled down in Sycamore IL where they had three children, David, Karen, and Steve. 

In 1972 Bob interviewed with Thomasville Furniture Industries (TFI) and was hired to become their Director of Purchasing. Bob took early retirement and retired in 1989 from TFI. He and Pat then moved to Sun Lakes Az where they lived and had the time of their lives until his loving wife Pat of 57 years died suddenly and unexpectedly in 2006. In 2012 Bob moved back to Thomasville to be closer to his youngest son Steve and his family. He purchased a home at Piedmont Crossing and lived there until his death. 

Bob was an avid golfer and won many tournaments throughout his life. He was also a proficient bird hunter and outstanding singer. He was a kind man, a fair boss to his employees and a great Dad. He was of the Methodist faith and was a member of Unity United Methodist Church in Thomasville. 

He is survived by son David Lindquist and wife Diane of Quartz Hill Ca, daughter Karen Waage and husband Mark of Mesa Az and son Steve Lindquist wife Katrina and son Nick of Thomasville NC along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Bob's ashes will be returned to the family and he will be interned with his loving wife Pat at the Arizona Military Cemetery in Cave Creek Az in Spring 2019.

The family would like to give special thanks to all the wonderful caregivers at Piedmont Crossing in Thomasville, Hospice of Davidson County.
